ERICA DEAN was born to do hair. By 15, she got her first job as a receptionist in a St. Louis salon and has dedicated her life to hair ever since. Over the past decade, she’s worked under and alongside a score of mentors and industry elites, finally finding her home at Ramirez Tran.
Hair isn’t just a “do” for Erica; it’s a feeling. When clients sit in her chair, she aims to find out what drives them. And then, taking into account face shape, hair type, style and personality – she finds a cut that matches each individual client and his or her lifestyle.
“Of course I find inspiration on runways and in magazines. But I’m not going to give someone a cut they can’t recreate at home. People wear their hair every day. What I do is real.” Erica says.
Erica’s haircuts are like little black Roland Mouret dresses. Timeless, easy and exquisite in their simplicity. They transition from work to play. They look great with oxfords and sky high heels because they’re tailored to perfection.
As one client says, “I’m ridiculously picky when it comes to my hair. I’m embarrassed to admit I used to fly to Denmark to get my hair cut after so many bad experiences in New York and LA salons. But after meeting Erica, I will never allow anyone else to touch it. She’s a savant; I trust her implicitly. And more than that, getting to live my life alongside her is a total joy. Whether I’m cutting my hair off because I feel scorned by yet another boy or headed to a red carpet event, I always leave Erica’s chair feeling like the best version of me.”
